Social Media Moderator

Role Type: Volunteer — Ongoing (Minimum 10 Moderators Needed)

Time Commitment: Daily check-ins required; weekend coverage is especially critical and actively needed

Reports To: Social Media Coordinator

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Our Facebook group has over 22,000 members and a lot of daily activity. Moderators keep the space safe, welcoming, and on-mission. This is a behind-the-scenes role with front-line impact — you are the reason our community stays a good place to be.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and approve pending posts in the ACW Facebook group daily
• Remove posts or comments that violate group rules or community standards
• Address disruptive members appropriately — up to and including removal from the group when necessary
• Communicate with the Social Media Coordinator about any patterns, concerns, or situations that need escalation
• Help maintain a positive, supportive community environment at all times

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Active Facebook user comfortable with group moderation tools
• Good judgment and a calm, fair approach to conflict
• Availability to check in daily — weekend availability is especially needed and appreciated
• Familiarity with ACW’s community standards and mission
• Thick skin and a sense of humor help

A NOTE FROM ACW

We are actively looking for moderators who can cover weekends — this is our biggest current gap. If you can commit to Saturday and/or Sunday check-ins, we especially want to hear from you.
