2024 was a phenomenal year of impact for Asheville Cat Weirdos (ACW) in Western North Carolina! Through the incredible generosity of our community, we raised an astounding $127,616 that transformed the lives of hundreds of cats in need.
What did your support make possible? An incredible 355 cats received life-saving emergency veterinary care when their families had nowhere else to turn. Our food pantry became a lifeline for 1,514 cats, distributing a remarkable 12,720 cans of wet food, 794 packages of treats, 1,925 pounds of dry food, and 3,837 pounds of cat litter to families struggling to keep their beloved pets fed and comfortable. Additionally, we partnered with the ASPCA to provide 137 spay/neuter surgeries, helping control our community’s cat population humanely.
While these numbers fill us with pride, they also highlight a heart-wrenching reality: several times throughout the year, the overwhelming need forced us to temporarily pause accepting new applications for assistance. Every pause meant families and their precious cats had to wait for help during their most vulnerable moments.
