Thanks to You!

Thanks to you!

The numbers for 2023 are in and because of this community’s generosity and support, we closed out 2023 with $132,308 in donations! Some of this was due to large fundraisers like Katie King’s neverending Auction, which has raised over $7,000 to date, but so much more is from ACW members and others pledging one-time or monthly donations.

What have we done with this money?

We have several programs to assist cat owners who live in WNC, west of I-77. This includes Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, McDowell, Polk, and Transylvania Counties.

Through the Emergency Veterinary Assistance Program (EVAP) we contribute to emergency situations, such as blockages, trauma, emergency c-sections or euthanasia and other procedures listed on our website. We issue vouchers directly to veterinarians to cover some or all of the cat’s emergency visit.

In 2023 we helped save the lives of 230 cats!!!

We gave out cat food and litter to over 1,400 cats in our community through the ACW Cat Pantry, which is held the second Tuesday and fourth Saturday of the month on a first come first-serve basis, no application required. This bi-weekly event is held at the House of Black Cat Magic 841 Haywood Road Asheville.

PLUS the ACW Spay/Neuter Program had 128 cats spayed and neutered!

2023 was a year of transition, and there were stumbles at times, but the board is working hard, our volunteer numbers are growing, and we have every reason to believe 2024 will be bigger and better.

It is never too late to sign up as a monthly donor—we have levels from $5 a month to $100 a month or more. With over 18,000 members in our Facebook group, we could have a banner year if each one became a full ACW member (and you get a sticker!!)

If you can’t give financially, consider volunteering. We appreciate all your donations, because they, along with the efforts of our hard-working volunteers, help make all of this possible.
