Role Type: Volunteer — Ongoing
Time Commitment: 5 to 10 outreach visits or contacts per month; currently as many as possible — can be done individually or as part of a small group

ABOUT THIS ROLE
ACW depends on strong relationships with local veterinary offices and businesses. The Vet and Business Outreach Volunteer is our ambassador in the community — visiting clinics, dropping off materials, and making sure that when a vet has a client who can’t afford care, they think of us first.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct regular outreach visits to veterinary offices throughout Buncombe County and the broader WNC service area
- Deliver ACW postcards and informational materials to vet offices, leaving behind clear information about how to refer clients to us
- Build and maintain warm, ongoing relationships with veterinary staff and office managers
- Expand outreach to local businesses as capacity allows — especially those who may want to support or partner with ACW
- Maintain a simple log of which offices have been visited and when, to ensure consistent coverage
- Report outreach activity to the Organization Lead monthly
- Stay in communication with the Events Coordinator — business outreach and event partnerships often overlap
- As ACW develops additional materials (brochures, etc.), incorporate them into outreach visits
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Personable, confident, and comfortable walking into a business and introducing yourself
- Reliable and self-motivated — this role requires independent initiative
- Genuine passion for ACW’s mission and ability to speak to it naturally in conversation
- Access to reliable transportation throughout the Asheville and WNC area
- Organized enough to track visits and report back consistently
- Previous experience in outreach, sales, community relations, or similar roles is a plus

This role can be done solo or as a small team covering different parts of the region. If you know someone else who would want to do this with you, bring them along — the more ground we can cover, the better.
