ABOUT THIS ROLE
ACW has a Facebook group with over 22,000 members and a community that genuinely loves this organization. The Social Media Coordinator keeps that community engaged, informed, and growing — while also building our presence on Instagram and managing our business Facebook page. This is a creative, high-visibility role with real impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the administrator and primary content creator for all ACW social media accounts: Facebook group, ACW business Facebook page, and Instagram
- Create and schedule regular content that reflects ACW’s voice — warm, community-rooted, and specific to Asheville and WNC
- Lead and support the team of Social Media Moderators, ensuring consistent coverage across all platforms including weekends
- Develop and execute a content calendar that keeps our audience engaged and informed about our mission, impact, and needs
- Grow and activate ACW’s Instagram presence, which is a current priority
- Coordinate with the Organization Lead on any major announcements, campaigns, or sensitive communications
- Monitor engagement and respond to comments and messages in a timely, on-brand way
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, business, or cause
- Strong content creation skills — writing, basic graphics, and/or photography
- Comfortable with Facebook (group admin and business page) and Instagram
- Creative, consistent, and self-motivated
- Understands ACW’s tone — we are not corporate, we are community
- Experience leading or coordinating a volunteer team is a plus
