Organization Lead

Role Type: Board Position (Future Structure)

Time Commitment: Variable — higher during active growth phases; minimal during stable operations

Reports To: Board of Directors

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Organization Lead is the heartbeat of Asheville Cat Weirdos. This person keeps all moving parts connected — making sure volunteer leads are supported, communication flows, morale stays high, and the organization moves forward with purpose. This is a leadership role grounded in community, not bureaucracy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the primary point of contact and decision-maker for day-to-day organizational operations
• Meet regularly with volunteer leads (monthly to bi-monthly) to stay informed and offer support
• Attend quarterly board meetings and serve as a bridge between the board and the volunteer team
• Make final calls when issues escalate or decisions need to be made quickly
• Monitor the overall health of the organization — operationally, financially, and emotionally
• Keep morale up and volunteers feeling seen, valued, and connected to the mission
• Identify gaps in coverage and help recruit or redistribute responsibilities as needed
• Serve as final approver for major communications, partnerships, or commitments made on behalf of ACW

• Ability to hold the big picture while staying connected to day-to-day realities
• Experience in a leadership, management, or coordination role (paid or volunteer)
• Calm under pressure — this organization runs lean and things move fast
• Comfortable with Facebook, email, and basic digital communication tools

This role is currently in transition as ACW formalizes its board and volunteer lead structure. The Organization Lead operates above the volunteer leads and reports to the board of directors.
